On this day in 1927 the very first "Talkie," The Jazz Singer, was released announcing the end of the silent film era.
Synopsis: Rabinowitz comes from a long line of synagogue cantors going back five generations, but he dreams only of singing jazz and ragtime music instead of continuing the family tradition. After a heated argument, Rabinowitz leaves home and pursues his dream changing his name to Jack Robin. He will have to make some very difficult choices in order to balance his career, family and his relationship with Mary.
Here's a short clip from the film!
